This book is the best I have found about New Caledonia
This book is the best I have found about New Caledonia. It is so hard for Americans to find good accurate info on New Caledonia but this book does it all. I knew more about some places than many of the locals. It helped me understand where I was going and helped me better integrate into the society there. Wonderful book. I am a lonely planet person now. :-)

Super Book
This book is fascinating for any blues or history lover. My husband bought it--we both read it and have passed it on--it is on it's way to a different state with a friend and we are buying another copy which we will also share with friends and family. Really makes one understand and appreciate REAL blues and what it has done to influence all kinds of music through the years. Highly recommend especially for music and history teachers as well as musicians.

She's Not Your Average World Traveler
Juanita Harrison, a southern African American woman, overcame the obstacles of poverty, a lack of formal education, racism, and a little thing called the Great Drepression to fulfill her dream of seeing the world on her own terms. This collection of her diary entries, unedited for grammar and spelling, has captured the voice of a resourceful, intelligent, adventurous and charming woman. The Original Adult Western #44
The Noose Hangs High For Slocum and His Woman.

They kept a supply of nooses handy. The vigilantes of Virgina City were busy keeping law and order by hanging outlaws, gamblers and just about anybody they didn't like. The guest at their latest necktie party had been Shotgun Slade, John Slocum's best friend. Now the vigilante committee was after busty Bonnie Slade-and it was up to Jake to save her. If the rescue failed, he'd hang too. If it succeeded, the ferretlike leader of the committee would track him all the way to Hell and back. It was a chance Jake was willing to take.

Great neighborhood resource
Williams is doing a marvelous job of illuminating the history of Washington DC's neighborhoods (first title was the Dupont Circle neighborhood & forthcoming 'Greater U Street'). Discriminating eye for the photographs that illustrate architectural history, social history & the portraits of those who shaped neighborhood development.

Never the Sinner: A Play
Published in Paperback by Samuel French Inc (1999)
Author: John Logan
Average review score:

Compelling, Suspenseful, Accurate - Great Play.
"Never the Sinner" is possibly one of the most historically accurate plays of today. It tells the true story of Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb and their quest to become ubermensch, or "supermen", as described by renowned philosopher, Nietsche. It offers the audience a journey through the early 1920's through the eyes the two young men. Their strange relationship and above normal intelligence find way to extremes beyond their own imaginations. John Logan has investigated this "crime of the century" and created a theatrical masterpiece. I have been fortunate enough to perform in a production of "Never the Sinner" in Buffalo, NY and, as Nathan Leopold, I conducted extensive research myself - this play is, without a doubt, extremely accurate and hauntingly so. It won various achievement awards and has been nominated, with pleasant outcome, as Best Play. If you're looking for a suspenseful, romantic, mysterious play - one that has been prestigeously acclaimed throughout the world, "Never the Sinner" will not only keep you on the edge of your nerves by bringing historical and frightfully realistic visions to the forefront of your mind, but a keen understanding of what power, determination, and Hollywood ideals of the 1920's could produce to the criminal minds of Leopold and Loeb.

Principles of Practice for the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall (15 July, 1999)
Author: Paul Logan
Average review score:

An important "first" for ACNPs: Well-written and useful
This impressive 54-chapter volume is the first comprehensive clinical textbook for both students in acute care nurse practitioner (ACNP) programs and practicing acute care NPs. Its focus is on the core skills, pathophysiology, diagnostic reasoning, and therapeutics that comprise the "meat and potatoes" of the ACNP's daily work. This well-constructed, well-written book deserves a close look. It contains many interesting and unique features (useful tables, for instance) and has particularly strong coverage of cardiology and some surgical specialties. As well as being of obvious interest to NPs and NP educators in adult acute care (for whom it's a "must-have" book), and perhaps physician assistants, the sophistication of the coverage in some areas (cardiovascular medicine is one), would make it an excellent choice for clinical nurse specialists and educators.
